A practical guide to Norway’s unforgettable mountain walk: distances, June conditions, what to pack and how to turn Trolltunga into your first tent-hiking adventure.

Three days, two nights under canvas and one extraordinary Norwegian landscape. Hike to Trolltunga, cook together outdoors and build your confidence with a guide beside you. June 2027 · dates agreed with the group · maximum six people.

Unzip your tent. Take a breath of cool mountain air. Put the kettle on while the first light moves across the rock around you. For three days, the pace is different: we walk, make camp, cook together and give ourselves time to take it all in.
Join A&S Expeditions for a guided three-day Trolltunga tent hike in Norway. The famous rock above Ringedalsvatnet is our big objective, but the experience reaches beyond the photograph. It is the satisfaction of carrying what you need, sharing an outdoor dinner and settling into your sleeping bag after a proper day in the mountains.
June 2027 · 3 days / 2 nights · up to 6 people · €399 per person.
There is no fixed departure date yet. We will discuss your availability and agree three consecutive days in June that work for the group and the mountain conditions.
You do not need to arrive as an experienced backpacker. This trip is designed for curious, adventurous people who want to start spending more time outside, with guidance and support along the way. We will help you prepare, settle into the rhythm of walking with a pack and become more comfortable with the everyday routines of life at camp.

This is our intended rhythm, rather than a fixed route schedule. We will confirm the meeting point, daily distances and camping plan once the group and dates are agreed.
We meet in the Trolltunga area, check equipment and talk through the plan before heading into the mountains. There is time to adjust your pack, find a comfortable walking rhythm and ask the questions you have never had a reason to ask before. At our first suitable campsite, we put up the tents and prepare dinner together. Your first evening outdoors begins with the simple pleasure of having everything you need close by.
Breakfast at camp, boots on, and a day built around the approach to Trolltunga. When conditions allow, we take time to appreciate the rock formation and the lake far below, with stops for photographs and the view itself. Later, another evening at camp brings warm food, conversation and the quiet satisfaction of a day spent moving through the landscape. Access to the exposed viewpoint always depends on safe conditions.
We make breakfast, pack camp carefully and begin the walk back. By now, the small routines should feel more familiar: organising your kit, looking after your feet and finding a steady pace. The aim is to leave with wonderful memories and a little more confidence to plan your next adventure.

Dinner becomes part of the adventure. We coordinate a practical food plan beforehand and prepare simple meals together outdoors, sharing the jobs and enjoying the result. Think of a steaming bowl after a walking day, a mug held in both hands and the landscape all around you.
Food is not included in the €399 price. You pay for your own food and carry your share; we help coordinate what the group brings and how we cook. Tell us about dietary needs when enquiring. Outdoor cooking will follow the conditions and local restrictions—this is not a campfire-based trip.
Beginners in overnight hiking are welcome; good hiking fitness is essential. You should be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven, sometimes steep ground and carrying your own clothing, food and camping equipment. A first night in a tent is welcome here, but this should not be your first long walk.
The usual Trolltunga return routes are roughly 20–27 km, depending on the trailhead. We spread the adventure over three days; the final distance depends on access, our campsites and the agreed route. A loaded backpack adds to the effort. If you are unsure about your fitness or equipment, tell us about the walks you currently enjoy and we will discuss whether this is a good match.
June brings long daylight hours, but snow can remain on the mountain and nights can be cold. Waterproof layers, warm sleeping equipment and some flexibility are part of the experience. We review the route and camping plan against the weather and snow conditions; reaching Trolltunga or following a particular itinerary cannot be guaranteed.
Separate costs: travel to and from Norway and the meeting point, local transport or shuttles, parking, food, personal insurance, accommodation before or after the trip, and any other personal costs. Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and other equipment are not included; you will need to bring, borrow or arrange suitable kit. We will discuss the equipment plan with you before confirming the trip.
For destination preparation, see the official Trolltunga trail information and mountain camping guidance. Our booking information explains payment, cancellations and changes.
If you have been thinking, “I would love to do something like this, but I do not know where to start,” start with a conversation. Tell us your preferred June dates, whether you are coming alone or with friends, and a little about your hiking experience. We will help you work out the next step.
